About the Role
We are seeking a friendly Dispensing Optician with excellent communication skills and a passion for patient care. You will confidently recommend tailored lens and frame solutions based on individual needs.
The role includes reception duties such as booking appointments, managing clinics, and handling enquiries.
You will also liaise with frame and lens representatives and contribute to product selection.
This is a supportive independent practice where quality is prioritised over volume, allowing time to deliver excellent patient care.
We are open to part-time or full-time hours (Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, with 1–2pm lunch closure).

We are looking for a skilled, caring, and commercially minded Optometrist to join our award‑winning independent practice in Fishguard. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages, carrying out detailed assessments, diagnosing a wide range of ocular conditions, prescribing corrective lenses, and providing ongoing clinical support.
Our practice is equipped with state‑of‑the‑art technology, including a Rodenstock DNEye scanner, and we offer generous 45‑minute testing times to ensure a truly patient‑centred experience.
Key Responsibilities:
-Perform thorough eye examinations to assess visual function and identify abnormalities or disease.
-Prescribe glasses or contact lenses tailored to each patient’s needs.
-Diagnose and manage a variety of eye conditions, including refractive errors, cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
-Provide pre and post operative care for patients undergoing ocular surgery.
-Educate patients on eye health, preventative care, and the importance of routine examinations.
-Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic patient care.
-Maintain accurate, detailed, and up‑to‑date clinical records.
-Demonstrate strong commercial awareness by identifying patient needs and offering appropriate product or service recommendations.
Experience & Qualifications:
-Experience delivering high‑quality patient care in a clinical environment.
-GOC registration is essential.

Due to growing demand we are looking for a friendly Optometrist who is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a truly independent, clinically focused, community practice. We have 40 minute appointments so you actually have time to talk to your patients! We are looking for 1-2 days a week (with no weekends), we open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and close between 1-2pm for lunch. We are very flexible to discuss other working options. There are no targets, and you have the professional freedom to work the way you want.
